Pandavkholi
Pandavkholi (also spelled Pandukholi) is a spiritually significant and scenic destination in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, known for its ancient caves associated with the Pandavas of the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Location: Situated in the remote and tranquil Doonagiri Hills (part of the Dronagiri mountain range), about 27 km from the town of Dwarahat and accessible via a trek from near the Dunagiri temple or Kukkuchhina village. Elevation: The caves and ashram are located at an elevation of approximately 8,000 feet (2,438 m). Mythological Significance: The name “Pandavkholi” literally translates to “shelter (kholi) of the Pandavas (Pandu)”. Local legend holds that the Pandava brothers found refuge in these caves during the first year of their Agyatvas (exile in disguise).
